Rescue & Romance: seven rescue games and one voice call

How our first game works: seven short puzzle rescues, then a live AI voice call with the character you saved, in any of 18 languages. Every character is labelled an AI model.

Rescue & Romance is the first game from Bluehans. It is a free Android game built on a simple loop: you play a short puzzle to rescue a character, and the character you saved becomes an AI companion you can call by live voice, in the language you choose. It is coming soon to Google Play.

This post covers how the game is put together and the rules we set for ourselves while building it.

Seven ways to rescue someone

A rescue takes about three to six minutes. Instead of one long game, Rescue & Romance has seven short ones, each from a genre people already know how to play. The cover above shows all seven.

  • Pin Rescue: pull the pins in the right order to free the hostages first, then her.
  • Sweet Rescue: match candies to shatter the glass cage she is trapped in.
  • Crystal Key: merge sweets, fill the orders and forge the key that sets her free.
  • Heart Blocks: place blocks, clear full lines and chain combos to finish the rescue.
  • Neon Run: dodge, jump and slide through a neon city on the way to her.
  • Save Her: pick the right item, fast, to get her out of danger.
  • Race to Save: win race after race to reach her.

Each rescue gives you three hearts. If you lose a step, you replay only that step, not the whole rescue. We wanted a failed move to cost a few seconds, not your evening. Characters unlock as you move through Easy, Medium, Hard and Elite levels.

Then she calls you

Winning a rescue earns coins. You can also watch an optional rewarded ad for more. Coins pay for voice calls with the characters you have rescued.

The call is a live conversation, not a recording. Under the hood, the Flutter app joins a real-time voice room. A voice agent listens, turns your speech into text, writes a reply with a language model and speaks it back in the character's voice. Alongside the audio it sends mouth-movement data taken from the voice itself, so the character's lips move as she speaks.

You can call in 18 languages:

Hindi and Hinglish come first on purpose. Search for AI voice calls and most of what you find is in English. We found few apps that let you have a real spoken conversation in Hindi, Hinglish or other Indian languages, so that is what Rescue & Romance is built for. The characters' recorded voice lines use the same languages as the calls.

A relationship that grows

Calls are not one-off. Talk often and send gifts, such as chocolates and dresses, and the relationship grows from friend to close friend to crush. Each character keeps her own progress with you, and the way she talks changes at each stage: caring and curious as a friend, casual and teasing as a close friend, playful as a crush.

Rules we set for ourselves

A game about rescuing and then talking to a character can go wrong fast, so we wrote down a few rules before we wrote the code.

Every character is labelled an AI model. Their faces, voices and replies are generated by AI, and they are not real people. Every character image and video in the game, on the store listing and on this website carries a small "AI model" tag, and the store listing says so too.

No misleading words in the listing. We describe the game by what you actually do: pin puzzles, match-3, merge games and AI voice calls. We don't use "best", "#1" or competitors' names.

Fair asks for ratings. The game asks for a review only after a won rescue, from your second win on, at most once every 30 days and three times ever. It never asks after a loss, and it never offers coins for a review.

Free to play, honestly. The game is free. It shows ads and offers optional in-app purchases, and the coins you need for calls can always be earned by playing. Race to Save uses free race chips, and we answer the store's content-rating questions about it honestly.

How it is built

Rescue & Romance is three parts:

  • a Flutter mobile app with the seven games, sign-in, ads and in-app purchases,
  • a FastAPI backend for accounts, coins, gifts and relationship progress, backed by Postgres and Redis,
  • a voice agent worker that runs the live calls over LiveKit.

The backend uses AutorunX, our AI studio, as its media service. The same team that builds AutorunX built the game, which is exactly the kind of work we now do for clients.

Play it, or build yours
